A Rough Patch At Christmas…
Good morning beautiful people, good morning. We all go through difficult times in life, and the heart aches at times as we face the challenges of each and every day. Christmas season (I like to call the miracle season) is no different. God tells us that there is nothing new under the sun in the book of Ecclesiastes.
Yesterday, I received a package in the mail. A beautiful quilt made by a dear friend from another part of the world. This quilt is full of detail and prayers along with God’s Word. A real masterpiece.
It took me back this morning to a writing I penned in December of 2017 titled, A Rough Patch. I wanted to share it with you once again today. Just in case this may be for you.
At a local outreach I was part of, a raffle was being drawn for a homemade quilt. I glanced at it setting on the bench by the tree wondering why it was there. You must be present to win the preacher announced. Some folks had left or went outside to have a cigarette or two. The first name was called, not there. Another name drawn, not there. Then the third name was called, and a woman began to jump up and down and cry. She ran up and received the quilt. She hugged that quilt and was filling it with tears. She just loved it and was so blessed. Everyone around her couldn’t help but be blessed too as they shared in her excitement. A moment in time I hope I never forget.
I was leaving this outreach to go home that day, there she sat in the lobby with a gentleman that had accompanied her. A man passing by said, God loves you and He wanted you to know how special you are. She hugged her quilt and with tears in her eyes she replied, I feel loved today. I have never had anything this nice before. She held the quilt up against her tattered blue coat with a smile and a glow that would make your heart leap for joy. It made me think of the scripture rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep(Romans 12:15) I so rejoiced with her. I couldn’t help but whisper under my breath, thank you God.
Let’s Pray:
Father, how much we take for granted. I pray Lord this morning for the woman with the patchwork quilt. May she remember how much you love her. Wherever life may take this lady in the tattered blue coat, may she remember the day you handpicked her to receive that special gift. Most of all Lord, may she know the greatest gift given, your son, Jesus. May she feel the warmth of Your love each and every day, I pray.
Father, I pray for the readers across this globe today, that your love would saturate their being. That they would wrap themselves up in the love of Christ and lay all their burdens at your feet. I pray no matter what they need, Father, whether a warm blanket, a cold drink, or a warm embrace, you would provide.
Father, I pray for faith for your people today. Father, we pray, we believe and we receive according to your Word. (Mark 11:24) Amen.
Have a blessed day God’s most beautiful people. You are loved. (John 3:16) Read it for yourself and believe.
