Do You Feel The Call To Prayer?
Good morning beautiful people, good morning. I was thinking this morning about a Life Class I attended with Oprah Winfrey in Dallas Texas in 2015. I was going through some life challenges of my own at the time and a friend, and I flew in for some meetings at the American Airlines Stadium on Victory Drive in Dallas. I took some criticism as some folks didn’t like Oprah’s stance on some issues and I began to pray for her. It’s easy to criticize and not so easy to pray for the people, the cause and what God desires. Life is challenging on our best days and quite honestly even the scholars, studying theologians didn’t and still don’t get everything right. Thank God for mercy and thank God for grace. I decided to begin to pray for Oprah. After I began praying for Oprah, I was in a closing bookstore here in the Star City and bought a book and if I remember correctly, her father was a Baptist.
My sister hosted us as she lived in Dallas and her son chauffeured us around to all the meetings we would attend. My sister now resides in heaven and the memories of the meetings at American Airlines are just that. I remember tweeting Oprah at that meeting if she believed in the power of prayer. Her response was yes, she did believe in the power of prayer.
I had a Christian Doctor tell me once to be thankful for as much truth as I knew and it was only because God allowed it. He is the only one that can remove the veil from the eyes that the god of this age has blinded. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Wouldn’t it be great if we could pray together, whether we agreed or not on the topics, and trust God to hear our prayers and answer, without being separated by political parties or different church denominations? Before I get myself into too much trouble, let’s pray:
Father, you know everything about this old world because you founded it. I am going to put all my trust in you. For in you all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through you and for you. (Colossians 1:16)
Father, together in unison we pray from Matthew 6.
This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For thine is the power and glory forever.” Amen. Let’s not forget verse 14 either. “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Amen, once again.
Father, thank you for victory for America.
