Thankful Thursday In The City…
Good morning beautiful people, good morning. Happy Thursday! It’s thankful Thursday in the city once again. Time goes by quickly. I see the buses in the morning now and school has started once again. Harvest is moving forward and the cool brisk mornings leave the dew on our vehicles to let us know that the season has changed. Even though we know harvest is coming and the season is changing, it seems to suddenly come upon us. I love harvest and I love the God of the harvest. How about you this morning?
I believe in the God of suddenlies. I believe in expecting the unexpected. God can change anything in an instant. Suddenly the circumstance changes, the prayer is answered. When you pray are you expecting God to answer or are you still a doubting Thomas? John 20:24-29 John tells us about this. Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Thomas had to see for himself. I admit I like to know ahead of time, I like to see, but I am learning that God can answer with a suddenly. He is God when I can see it and he is still God when I can’t. My position is to pray and trust him.
Are you waiting on God today to answer your prayer? Pray and thank him in advance for your answer. Have faith he will come through for you. Today, on thankful Thursday you might just experience one of his suddenlies.
Let’s Pray:
Father, God of the suddenlies, thank you for another beautiful day. May the God of all hope fill all the beautiful people this morning with all joy and peace as they trust in you, so that they may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
Father, give us eyes to see you in our day, in our city and give us ears to hear what the spirit of God is saying. Father, we commit this day to you. Use us for your glory and your glory alone.
Father, the path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble. Proverbs 4:8-9.
Father, light our path today on Thankful Thursday and bless our city because you can, because you will and because you love your people. Amen.
Have a blessed day God’s most beautiful people. Keep the faith. God hears your every prayer.
